HP Releases Open-Source webOS under Apache 2.0

In a move first signalled by HP more than a year ago, on August 31, 2012, HP released its first beta composed of 54 webOS components and more than 450,000 lines of code, including build environments. The release was done under the Apache 2.0 license, perhaps following the lead of Android.  HP’s webOS devices were discontinued about a year after the company’s April 2010 acquisition of Palm, the original developer of webOS.
