The Open Invention Network (OIN) announced this month that it has added 18 mobile Linux packages, including core Android libraries and Dalvik, to its landscape of royalty-free patent cross-licenses. These latest additions follow on the heels of expanded coverage for KVM, GIT, OpenJDK, and WebKit, added earlier this year.
The Open Invention Network enables royalty-free cross licensing of patents covering the Linux System, as defined at http://www.openinventionnetwork.com/pat_linuxdef.php. The recent additions expand that definition, which already extended far beyond the Linux Kernel. The current Open Invention Network license is available at http://www.openinventionnetwork.com/pat_license_agreement.php.
